Global Health Initiative Committees Service Trip Committee This committee was created to facilitate service trips for M1s during their summer between M1 and M2. Essentially, this will be taking over the gap left by the disintegration of PCOM Without Borders. Responsibilities will include researching safe and opportunistic trips, providing information sessions for interested students, and matching interested students with trips that match their interests as well as forming/organizing large group trips.
Public Relations Committee This committee was created to maintain the social media aspect of the organization such as the Facebook page, website, and blog as well as posting relevant global health related articles on these platforms.
Clinical Education Committee This committee was created to assist students who will be going on elective rotations abroad (specifically M3 and M4s). Responsibilities include coordinating a pre-departure meeting, making sure all forms are completed as per the Clinical Education Department to ensure elective credit, and keeping up to date/informing students about the vaccinations, travel precautions etc. Additionally, the committee maintains a working relationship with the PCOM Clinical Education Office. \ Financial Committee This committee was created to help students going on trips abroad (M1-M4s) with budgeting, fundraising, and scholarship searches. This committee will also be responsible for writing grants.
Global Health Community Outreach Committee This committee was created to coordinate Global Health speakers, communicate with local physicians interested in Global Health/have experience who would be interested in coming to speak or accompany students on a trip, and keeping up to date on global health issues and how that affects our local community. Overall, the goal of the committee is to increase Global Health Awareness at the PCOM community.
