History of GHI The Global Health Initiative at PCOM was founded in the Fall of 2015 when it became a committee of the DO Council. The initial creation of GHI was to assist students interested in doing international rotations during their clinical years. We believe that all students should have the opportunity to travel abroad and experience medicine from a global perspective. Recently, the Global Health Initiative has expanded and created 5 subcommittees to help further fill the gap in Global Health at the PCOM campus.
Mission statement We are a group of students drawn together by a common bond to help our fellow man worldwide through medical care. We each have different backgrounds and goals, but are unified to strengthen one another, through networking and educational opportunities. The primary goal of PCOM Global Health Initiative is to learn about medical problems abroad, how other healthcare systems function, and how we can work to improve them. We will do this through international clinical clerkships, conferences and service trips to further our education. We believe furthering our education in this way will enable us to better fulfill the Hippocratic Oath, and improve our patient care.
